Problem: The most popular organic chemical compound that requires frequent heating is wax. Waxes are a diverse class of organic compounds that are hydrophobic, malleable solids near ambient temperatures. They include higher alkanes and lipids, typically with melting points above about 40 °C (104 °F) resulting in a low viscosity rating. A processing plant had 500 L capacity tanks filled with liquefied wax. His requirement was to heat the tank from 20 degree C to 40 degree C within one hour. But his problem was that originally gas heaters were installed for the task, which brought complications such as uneven heat distribution as well as fumes within the working area. 

Solution: We offered an over the side immersion heater for the process, knowing that the tank had a small opening at the top which provided an access point to the liquid. The dimensions of the tank were huge; hence the total wattage requirement exceeded the wattage capacity of one heater. So several heaters of equal wattage and equal dimensions were incorporated within the same tank to comply with the heating specifications of the customer. An over the side immersion heater consists of tubular elements that extend along the height and diameter/width of the tank but does not touch the base of the tank. They can be shaped and sized to match the dimensions so as to provide constant, precise heat. These heaters have low watt density to ensure a long life as well as to avoid any deposits from forming on the elements. An RTD was installed as a cost efficient way to regulate the heat. We did not feel the need for installing a digital controller as the temperature variation was minimal. Hence a long term solution was offered to the customer’s problem.


 Over the side immersion heater is strong enough to withstand many harsh environments both indoors and outdoors and are an exceptional choice for projects with limited budgets.

 Rugged and light weight construction hence is portable and durable.

 Sludge legs are included in the heater to keep element above sediments.

 Easily compatible with heat sensing and control equipments.

 Heat up time is fast and adjustable as compared to gas heating.
